So just how did Terra Ranch get started? Let me tell you the story.

My name is Farrah and I love horses. I have always wanted them since I was a little girl. My husband Ned and I made up our minds to one day own our own horses! Ned had been riding since he was a little boy so it was easy for me to convince him to buy a ranch!

The Gershenson family purchased a 30 year old home and 4 acres of barren desert land from Lee Colbert in November 2002. Then 1 more barren acre in 2003 and 6 more acres in 2004. That became Terra Ranch!

At that time we were in the market for some property to build a home for our two new Morgan horses, Hunter and Shakira, who had arrived in October 2002. We had recently purchased them from the Scharf's at Morning Star Morgan's in London, Ohio. We were very excited to get them and were anxious to have them near us. Luckily our neighbors, Rico and Nancy, welcomed us to use their stalls until the stables at Terra Ranch were finished. While developing our new ranch I began asking for a horse every time there was a holiday and every time I could convince Ned to buy one! He would always say no at first but it really wasn't that hard to change his mind because we would fall in love with all the same horses.

If it weren't for Linda and Swede Hastings, of Eagle Point, Oregon, the owners of Lighthouse Morgan's, we would not have had the opportunity to buy and breed such beautiful Morgans. Linda has taught us much by sharing her 45 years of horse knowledge. She has become a good friend and mentor.

As time went on we realized that we really preferred Warmbloods but did not want to sell our Morgans. After building 14 new fully "decorated" stalls we were still a few stalls short. Seems as though we buy horses faster than we build stalls.

Anyway we realized we had to sell some of our Morgans as our goal changed from breeding and raising Morgans to breeding and raising Warmblood Sport Horses.

That's pretty much the story without going into too much detail.
